Banat Serbian Cultural Public Benefit Association, Deszk
Over several years of work, we have become renowned statewide and internationally. Our most important task is to nurture Serbian culture, folklore, folk music, folk dance and mother tongue, and to pass them down to the younger generations. Thanks to our determined and resilient work, we participate in various folklore and rating competitions successfully. We traveled around Hungary, and we made an introduction in many countries.

Among the many awards we have received over the years, one of the most prominent is the Order of St. Sava, which was given to us by Patriarch Pavle. The association has stepped on the winner podium of the Serbian Folklore Europe Festival for more than a decade. It was awarded 3 golden, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals, as well as numerous special prizes. Our program includes Serbian folk music, folk dance and folk songs, putting great emphasis on the region of Banat.
As much in the present as in the past, great importance and attention are given to making, weaving and embroidering textiles in the life of the Serbian of Deszk. Therefore, our present community would like to preserve this tradition through training. We have been organizing workshops focusing on folk trades. During the sessions, the participants can learn how to weave and embroider Serbian linen and fabrics which are basic commodities of other traditional clothes.
Our workshop sessions are popular with both kids and adults. From straws and willow twigs to trees, from beads to clay and felt, from honey to corn, we put to use a wide range of commodities while working. All of this cultural heritage are extreme valuable to us. We consider them our shared treasure, and we make a great effort to preserve it. In this way, we not only support folklore, but we do the Serbian community living in Hungary a great service by improving their sense of comfort regarding its descent.
Talentum Talent Development Association of Art, Szabadka
Talentum was established in 2013. Its purpose, besides our goal to teach Hungarian folklore, is to give knowledge of various branches of performing arts to children and the youth, such as singing, dancing, acting and dramatic play.

The Association’s primary consideration is that the education of art shall contribute to develop a diversely literate, mature and creative personality, with its unique tools and aesthetic education. The artistic education of the students living in our region is one of the most important goals of our association. Within the frames of art education, we provide opportunities in for branches of art (the education of music, dance, acting and crafts) involving people from the age of 4 to 26 with an interest in art. Despite the fact that these faculties are taught in different classes, the end result is a unified form of folklore. We aim to help the members of our association achieve their full potential. In our view, respecting the individuality of each child is our duty.
We are convinced that, by using new methods, following and applying the reforms in teaching, we can realise a unity of different art disciplines which makes it possible to enhance the young ones ability to express not only by movement, but also verbally and through crafting. This is the way we wish to follow to build their confidence, their awareness of identity, receptivity and the ability to adapt. We help our members find and nurture their culture, stand for their identity, as well as show others the cultural values of their community. This help is not only provided in the horizontal relationship between students and teachers, but its final goal is to lay down the foundation of the relationships among members. In our Associations program, we implement the method of development. In children, adolescent and adult groups, we do “talent development” sessions to improve creativity, with an emphasis on project methods.
